Voztec Pty Limited commenced the development of a prototype helmet in June 2005. After initial proof of concept, a number of prototypes and a COMET Grant, the development of the technology slowed, as like many startups, the business struggled to fund ongoing work.  Since receiving a Commercialisation Australia Skills and Knowledge grant in mid-2010, progress has been rapid and importantly, acceptance of the design’s safety features by the medical fraternity and end-users has been extremely positive.

Voztec believes that Commercialisation Australia has been instrumental in allowing the company to expand its IP Strategy, source ongoing strategic advice and introduce its technology to a number of interested overseas parties considering licensing the technology.  It has also given its shareholders the confidence to invest additional funds.  This extra capital has helped Voztec resolve design issues and gain clarity on the best path to market.

Voztec has now completed its 5th Generation fully working prototype and is currently undertaking third party testing.

Voztec’s overarching strategy is market development through researching potential helmet markets and identifying opportunities for the development of helmets that incorporate the Voztec™ system. It will build a portfolio of alliances with industry organisations and large and small manufacturers and distributors across many product markets. As each helmet opportunity is developed, it will be separately branded and protected either by Voztec helmets or the alliance partner.
