Low cost and environmentally friendly contaminated soil treatment technology
MetalloTek's soil remediation technology, developed at the University of Queensland, has the potential to be a low cost and effective tool for helping to rehabilitate metal-contaminated mine sites. The technology is based on proprietary polymer particles that bind toxic metals, reduce acidity and salinity, increase water availability and hence enable vegetation growth on highly contaminated soils.
Funding from Commercialisation Australia will assist MetalloTek's plans for a long-term glasshouse pot trial and further testing to ready the technology for a pilot field trial at a mine site.
