Monoclonal antibody treatment for myeloma and other fatal blood cancers
Immune System Therapeutics (IST) develops antibody therapies to treat blood cancers and autoimmune diseases. The company is currently in a phase 2 trial in multiple myeloma with its lead drug – MDX1097. This trial is being co-funded by a Commercialisation Australia Early Stage Commercialisation grant.
IST’s antibody target platform covers a range of blood cancers including myeloma, and some forms of lymphoma and leukaemia. It also covers several autoimmune diseases including systematic lupus erythemastosus, rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis.
A notable benefit of IST’s therapeutic targets and antibodies is that they are highly specific and have shown no deleterious side effects in the clinic. IST is planning to license its therapeutic antibody treatments for blood cancers and autoimmune diseases in the medium term future.
The below images are pre and post treatment PET scans for a phase 1 trial patient showing a very postive response to the therapy.
