The Commercialisation Australia Volunteer Business Mentor Program will offer successful applicants access to a range of experienced mentors who will assist successful applicants by offering the knowledge, skills and insights needed to turn their intellectual property into a commercial reality.
Small companies and people new to business often do not know who to talk to and how to make business connections to develop their ideas. Volunteer Business Mentors will assist applicants by offering tailored advice on how best to commercialise their product, process or service. This helps successful applicants get the advice and guidance they need, when they need it.
Volunteer Business Mentors have a mix of skills and experience - these include extensive experience in building successful businesses and/or knowledge across a range of speciality fields and so are well placed to offer insights into the commercialisation process. Many mentors have commercialised their own products or services and have specialist knowledge in particular markets and industries.
Volunteer Business Mentors build on the support provided by Case Managers, giving successful applicants a sounding board to bounce ideas off and suggest options. Case Managers organise mentoring sessions with Volunteer Business Mentors matched to the applicants' needs and, as these needs change, individual mentors can be changed ensuring the mix of knowledge and skills available is always tailored to the current needs of the successful applicant.
Long term mentoring with Commercialisation Australia participants will not be facilitated by the program but can be pursued on an individual basis.
