Dr Katherine Woodthorpe has more than 25 years experience in the technology and commercialisation industry. She has held a broad range of management and board positions. In 2009 she was a member of the focus group that assisted with the development of Commercialisation Australia.
Dr Woodthorpe has an extensive background as a management adviser and professional director, including working with Australian technology companies seeking venture funding through to being a board member of listed companies. She has consulted to government groups on innovation and commercialisation.
Dr Woodthorpe is currently the Chief Executive of AVCAL, the Australian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association, the national association that represents the venture capital industry's participants, promotes the industry and encourages investment in growing business enterprises. Previously, Dr Woodthorpe was the Chief Executive of the Technology Industries Exporters Group, an industry peak body she helped establish to assist technology companies improve their export performance
She is currently Chair of the Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems Cooperative Research Centre and Council Member, University of Technology Sydney.
